Hello,
I can scarcely believe where the weeks have gone since I signed on the dotted line and paid my deposit, but the week of Artsource RDS Dublin https://www.artsource.ie/ is finally here!
Like the well-known song, I am packing up my trunk (more like boxes), but instead of saying goodbye to the circus I'm about to say hello!! Hardly a circus, as this will be a weekend full of beautiful art, inspiration and I hope new customers and relationships forged.
I have been busy packing and wrapping (I found a great eco compostable bubble wrap), pricing and labelling. All the important decisions made regarding which works to take and which to leave behind. Sitting here, confident I have a body of work I stand by and feel extremely proud of.
It goes without saying, I owe a huge thank you to the minions at home for all their help in getting me to this point. From getting all the work photographed and up on my socials, to ensuring the website is operational, to just lending a creative eye and a listening ear. To borrow that buzzword bingo phrase, ‘there is no I in team’'.
What has become extremely handy is the little labelling printer, which was my daughter Liv's idea, and has made the pricing up part of things so much quicker. The little printer came from a popular online retailer and comes with a handy little App, allowing you to quickly create your own label designs. I am a well-known technophobe, but even I managed to work it. Here’s the link to it in case you fancy a go. Bought for labelling pantry jars, it’s a game changer let me tell you.
A few additional paintings I had been working on in the background are now finished and dried thankfully. You lovely lot get a sneak peek of them here. As of now, I have well over 50 paintings! I'd say that will be enough, what do you think?! I have also begun the process of adding some additional limited prints to the collection and I will showcase them here soon.
New work coming to the RDS...
Setup at the RDS Dublin, starts tomorrow – Wednesday 13th and continues Thursday 14th, with the preview evening beginning at 5:00 PM. Thankfully Mrs ArtistGMD has agreed to lend her expert stylist eye to the process of hanging and arranging the art. I trust her to oversee the stand aesthetics (how handy to be married to an interior stylist). The next time I write, will be after the show and I hope to report back it’s been a roaring success.
Am I nervous? Yes, a little. But more than anything, I’m excited! Very much looking forward to meeting new customers, seeing friends drop by and hopefully forge relationships with a wider audience. Plus, there's a tonne of artists I adore also exhibiting, and I'm so looking forward to seeing their incredible body of work.
It always excites me when clients take the time to send me photographs of my work hanging in their homes, so I always ask them to do that if they don’t mind. It’s a feeling I never grow tired of, knowing my moody expressions of still life resonate and take pride of place in someone's home, truly means everything. If you are coming along this weekend, don't forget to come and say hello. I am on stand K6 in the upper gallery.
Huge thank you again for joining me on my artistic journey.
See you soon,
Gavin.
You are going to smash it! 🤩 Great post husband. I genuinely cannot wait to see all your beautiful work in one place.!
Gavin, I'm just so completely excited for you! This event is going to be amazing!!! Blessings!
