Hello,
How are you all? No doubt you are looking forward to the long Easter weekend and some much-deserved time off. Shame the amazing weather has nose dived, but then it wouldn't be a bank holiday without rain!
There's no such rest for this busy artist as I’m glad to report my exhibition and stint as Artist in Residence at The 59 Collective in Powerscourt Townhouse Centre https://www.powerscourtcentre.ie in Dublin, has officially begun! I promised you an update dear reader when once I was in situ, so here it is...
Turning a blank space in to an exhibition...
The space is just perfect and with the help of my handy stylist wife Sarah aka Retwiggdstylist https://www.retwiggd.ie/ , we have transformed it into a beautiful and tranquil gallery. Muireann and Wendy the owners of The 59 Collective have done a fantastic job of sourcing and curating some beautiful props and furniture, which made dressing the space a joy! You can come in, browse the art, sit in the comfy armchair and just drink in my work.

The shop has a fantastically laid-back vibe, filled with plants and beautiful vintage and antique props sourced from all over Ireland. You can’t help but want to hang out, browse the collections from women's fashion and accessories, to art and homewares and stay for a chat. There's even a working fountain which acted as the perfect ice cooler for the Prosecco to toast opening day!

Painting ‘live’ in the gallery’s studio, although a little nerve wrecking to be watched at first, was so much fun. Some truly lovely people stopped to chat, asking questions about my work and heaping praise I was only too willing to soak up. As an artist, you always hope your work will resonate, so when one visitor to the gallery became quite emotional about how my work truly spoke to them and reminded them of home, it made my day.
A view of my exhibition space...

My stint as artist in residence will run until 4th May 2025, so I really hope if you are in and around Dublin at any stage, you pop in and say hello. Any new website subscribers will be entered into a draw to win a signed print of their choice, so do encourage your friends and family to sign up if they haven’t already.

If you head over to my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/artistgmd you can see a live run through of the space and indeed the whole 59 Collective shop and see me in action if you can't manage to make it in.
Happy Easter wishes to you and talk soon.
Namaste,
Gavin

Congratulations Gavin. It looks so incredibly beautiful! I'm so happy and proud to see you going from strength to strength!
